Giving Can Be Selfish, And Selfish Is Okay

Is there truly ever a completely selfless act? (Joey and Phoebe contemplated this many years ago, #iykyk). Why should someone bother giving back to the community anyway, is that so society can move forward or is it so we can feel we made a meaningful contribution?

Giving Back doesn’t always have to come with too many questions or emotions, it can simply be about any reason that connects with us. For me, the concept of giving back is simply because it makes me feel good. I believe, if we can, we should. Not everyone has to share my belief, in fact I find that different people have different reasons for doing the same things.

Some like to give back because they were given a helping hand when they were in need. Some believe this helps them connect with a higher purpose in their life. No matter why we choose to give back to our community in a voluntary capacity, I believe it should bring us joy, I believe this should be selfish.

I also think it is important to wholeheartedly believe in the cause we are giving back to. And in order to believe in a cause, it may be pertinent to understand the working details of that cause. At the Vidya Network, our mission will be to make sure our supporters receive full transparency regarding our cause and efforts.

Our goal is to ensure our supporters find multiple different ways to give back that suit their reasons, abilities, and intentions. I invite you, dear reader, to join us for this journey, follow our story, offer feedback where needed and become a cherished part of our Vidya Network.
